Musician Bill Abernathy returns to his musical roots with the release of “Whiskey Road,” which is part of his latest album Crossing Willow Creek. He is an expert at mixing Americana, Blues, Country, and Rock to pure perfection.
The Kansas City, Missouri first artist abandoned music to live a fulfilling life as a wonderful father, husband, and business owner. Yet, music was always in the back of his mind and he was able to create music again as soon his kids were older. The lyric music video for “Whiskey Road” shows related images to whiskey, the road, and typical life at home. It’s intriguing to watch as the scenes change so often that it’s uncertain what we’ll see next.
“Whiskey Road” is laid back and completely relatable to listeners. The song discusses an alcoholic driving down the “whiskey road” and not being able to get back to his life with lyrics like “Don’t ya know there’s lessons learned living on the road/ Be sure it’s all you want from life/ Cause it’s all you ever gonna know.”
Speakig about his music, Abernathy said, “Inspiration for my music comes from a variety of the many parts of my life.”
“Events and experiences of mine, my family, my friends, and sometimes even people I have never met all, contribute to the creativity of my music. I find it interesting and rewarding to let my imagination wander through the memory and spirit of life events and see where it takes me,” he continues.
“Sometimes life is good to you and gives you a second chance. In my youth I walked away from music for a myriad of personal reasons. Now, I’ve now been given a second chance to pursue this thing we love called music, and I am really enjoying the ride!” Abernathy enthusiastically said.
