Serbian performer and composer, Andrej, blends a unique mix of funk-rock music with contemporary pop to form his signature style of music perfect for any listener!

Check out our interview right here as we discuss his current releases including “Alive Again” and what he has in store for the following year!

Your latest single “Alive Again” has a really cool lyric video. Are you planning on creating any other music videos this year?

Thank you! The year of 2020 is the year I intend to create a catalogue of songs. After that is done, the selected songs will have music video!

What’s the inspiration behind the single “Alive Again”?

’’Alive Again’’ is a song about getting reborn after a life hardship! It’s supposed to be motivational and upbeat, although it is related to a sad topic – one that’s unavoidable in any person’s life. I am hugely thankful to Anni Pea, who made this amazing lyrics.

Are you currently working on releasing an EP or album?

Yes! As I mentioned, I am working on album, or what I like to call it, a catalogue of songs. Probably 15 songs, but we’ll see! The next song that’s scheduled to be out is called ’’ Why Does it Have to Be Love’’. Stay tuned for that release!

“It’s My Day” has its own short piano version after years of its first release. What inspired you to go back and recreate the single?

I just wanted to give ’’It’s My Day’’ a new musical context without touching the original vocals. So this is exactly what I did – revisited the music project, removed all of the instruments and added a short piano.

You began your career singing at various singing competitions,. What was that experience like for you? Did those experiences prove to you that you were born to create music?

I won at all of the singing competitions I partcipated in (total of 3, all of those when I was a youngster, LOL). I never thought I’d do this for life until much later in my life. I just went with it and sang with ease. It might be a ’gift’ or a ’talent’, but all of that is worthless unless a significant amount of work and self-discpline is invested!

Being in a few bands of your own, how did those bands shape your musical career?

The bands I’ve been in (The Spiders, Mighty Fusion, Steamfunk – present band) thought me much about the live acts and the art of performance. Interaction with the audience and setting the right feel for crowds is essential in music life, so these experiences have been extraordinary for exactly that.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

It may sound strange, but if it wasn’t for The Beatles, I probably wouldn’t have been here today, answering your questions For me, they’re the number one, both musically and measured by the impact and the mark they have left in culture. My other musical influences vary; ranging from Deep Purple, Jamiroquai, Incognito, RHCP, James Brown, The Strokes, Rainbow, Muse…

Is there one song that’s most meaningful to you? Why?

It’s always very hard to pick one, but if I really need to, than it’d be a song ’In my Life’ by The Beatles. It’s so universal, so meaningful that it always bears a strong message, and each time I listen to it it’s like I am listening to it for the very first time.

What do you hope listeners feel when they listen to your music?

I hope they feel love, they relate to it and it makes them dance and sing. If I manage to do that, I will feel accomplished!

Rock, Pop, and Funk fans will truly enjoy your sound! How did you discover your love for these sounds?

Thank you for your kind words! I guess it’s always the combination of outside world influences versus the inner feeling for what’s good in music!

Any final words?

Stay positive! Sing, laugh and dance whenever you can. Send universe the good message, and it will return back to you, like a boomerang of love, joy and happiness. Cheers!
