Thank you for joining us – Congratulations on the release of “The Blessing on Me”! How are you feeling about sharing this single with the world?
Thanks for the love! Let me tell you, I feel great about it! I’m excited about being able to use my joy of singing to share inspiration with those who will appreciate it!
Let’s discuss your newest single “The Blessing on Me.” what does it mean for you, and what do you hope people take away from it?
The last few months have been rough for so many. We’ve seen so much trouble. I’m releasing this song to help my listeners to see the good! That’s the blessing.
What was the writing and recording process like?
Well, the writing process is too easy for me because my husband writes my songs! Lol, that’s a plus for me. Recording with a bit of work. I recorded this song during the early part of my pregnancy with my daughter Maci.
What’s your favorite verse from the new single, and why?
There’s a verse in my song that says, “Everywhere I look I see favor!” I love it because it helps me to imagine every good thing that is and will be present in our lives.
Which artists have influenced you through your musical journey?
I’d say, Brandy, Mariah Carey, Kim Burrell, and a few more.
How has this year affected you creatively?
It’s been rough, but the push to keep going is present. Most times we are motivated by pressure.
This is your second release after the debut of “Wonderful.” What was the inspiration behind this single?
I was just really inspired by the positive feedback from my first single. I wanted to keep the momentum going and get this song done before getting into the most difficult part of my pregnancy.
If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be and why?
Wow! I’ve never thought about this. I would have to say, Israel and New Breed.
Who has made the biggest impact on your life so far and how?
My grandmother, Betty Cannon. She is a phenomenal grandmother. Praying for me and making sure that I stayed on the right path throughout life.
With the releases of “The Blessing on Me” and “Wonderful” now available, have you given any thought to what you’d like to share in your third release?
I’ve given it some thought. But I’m in no rush. We have a newborn at this time, but I know my husband will be cooking up something in the near future. We’ve even consisted a re-release of my first single with a different vibe.
How would you define being successful as an independent artist?
Freedom. The freedom to create, release, and own. I believe independence is the greatest gift to any artist.
How do you keep a balance with everything you do in your everyday life?
I’m currently in school pursuing my Doctorate in education administration, I’m a full-time wife and mother and now paying much attention to our 2 weeks old newborn. My husband is beyond helpful along with extremely supportive family and friends.
What’s next for you? What would you like to accomplish in 2021?
Live worship experiences, traveling with my husband for ministry, recording more music, pushing through school, and enjoying the growth of my family.
