R&B/Soul singer and songwriter, Ghilaff, has won over the hearts of music lovers from all over the world with his distinctive, charming voice. He’s anticipating the release of his newest EP With U, a body of work filled with his deepest thoughts, personal experiences, and observations. Check out the rest of our interview down below!
Ghilaff, you’re a 25-year-old Urdu Poet and Singer. How did you first discover that you had a talent for music?
I have been doing music since my 4th Grade I remember when I was a kid my dad bought me an electric piano because he saw a musician inside me “You know you should always listen to your parents because they can see what you can’t” I started playing around with it I still remember the first composition I made, back then I used to do it for fun for my soul satisfaction but later on I decided to make it my profession cos music is in my blood so it wasn’t me who first discover my talent, it’s my dad who saw it first.
Were there any artists that influenced your journey as a singer?
Just a one name – Drake.
You’re about to release your EP “With U” soon! Which single are you most excited for your fans to hear?
Well, to be honest for an artist, every song is special, though I can’t reveal the track names But if you really wanna know what’s arriving next so, I just wanna say that I am excited for two of my favorite artists JR & Kcamp Sushi who gonna join me in my EP.
“Devil” is the first release with its own lyric video. What’s the story behind this song?
Oh this song will always be in fans playlist, I love this track so much that I am planning to get it tattooed on my arm very soon. The story behind this track is crazy one day I was writing something and I got stuck by this thought:
“How about if I write something about devil’s personal life like how he will feel about the things if he ever breaks up with his fav girl”
And I don’t know if we can call this a coincidence but one of my music producer and mix engineer (Music MTS) called me up and said “Hey I’ve sent you something please check your mail” So I got this instrumental it was dope and the best part it was sounding exactly the way I imagined for my record DEVIL. It took me a month to complete the entire song composition and lyrics and I sent him back for post-production and the record came out amazingly.
How long did it take you to put together the entire EP “With U”?
Trust me I was planning to release it a previous month but some of my tracks were incomplete so it took me 5 months to put together the entire With U.
Which song on the EP is the most important to you and why?
For me, every track is important cos I’ve invested my time and energy to complete my each record.
Where did you find your inspiration for the songs on your EP?
Every record in my EP is based on real-life events. so I don’t need to find inspiration for my record it’s just every time I wanna write I just recollect my memories.
Has becoming an inspiration and role model for other young music fans changed the way you approach your music or your songwriting?
Yes definitely I feel so much pressure on my shoulders when I create something whether its a song lyrics or a movie script I always think how it will affect the people in a positive way cos, artists can change anything in this world they can change people’s mind they can change someone’s perspective so I even advice the upcoming artists that make something that can change the world in a positive way.
What are your hopes for 2020?
