Interview: Kendra Muecke Set To Release New Christmas Single This Friday

Artist, writer and actress Kendra Muecke joins us today to share the exciting news on the release of her upcoming single coming on Friday, December 4th. Get to know her before the single releases:

Hi Kendra! Thanks for taking the time to chat with us!

Thank you so much for inviting me to interview.

How often do you set goals for yourself?
This question just made me chuckle out loud. So many goals. I am literally setting goals in most moments. I always have something on the horizon that I am aiming for. I like the game of life, and I want to collect as many memories, poems, songs, and souvenirs as possible.

What have you been most proud of learning lately?

I am so glad you asked. I am actually re-learning piano. I took lessons as a kid and have studied music theory in recent years, so I’m picking it up pretty quick. It’s rather serendipitous, because what led to me getting back into playing the keys … was that my Grandmother Sally passed away. She happened to be a pretty prolific songwriter and piano player. Sally Charles. I have her Yamaha keyboard and sheet music, so I have been teaching myself through my Grandmother’s original music.

What role does music play in culture?

Music plays a vast role in culture. It is the heartbeat and soundtrack of our lives. With all the different genres, eras, and personalities behind the music, it reflects the condition of humanity on a grand scale. It’s rich with history, and there are reasons why certain types of music are played the way they are. For example, the blues are heavy with emotion, because of the place it originates from. Think about the way pop music grips the ear; that’s the effect on culture. The music settles into our minds and becomes part of us, just as easily as a good song placement in a commercial can sell us a car.

You are going on a road trip, what song has to be on your playlist?

“Not Fadeaway > Going Down The Road Feeling Bad” by Grateful Dead, Skull & Roses album

“Lights & Music” > “Hearts on Fire” by Cut Copy

“Swangin’ & Bangin'” by ESG

“Anticipating” by Britney Spears

“Have You Ever Seen The Rain” by CCR

“Frederick” by Jefferson Airplane

“25 Lighters” by Z-Ro”Cinnamon Girl” by Neil Young

“Slide Away” by Miley Cyrus — New addition to the driving playlist.

If you had your own talk show, who would your first 3 guests be?

Oh wow. First of all the talk show would be called “The Politics of Kendra” or “Kendra & the Bunny Hour”.I would invite Jessica Lange, Drake, and Jen Sincero.

What emotion do you experience the most?

Unbridled joy, enchantment, thoughtfulness, and focus 🙂
