It’s always a pleasure introducing you guys to our recently discovered artists! Today, we’re speaking with Kyle Jordan to discuss his newest release and what’s coming up in the future!
Welcome Kyle! So good to chat with you today! You have a new single coming out, can you tell us more about it?
Hey! Thank you so much for having me. Yeah! My new song “Only One” is coming out on October 16th. I think the most important part of the track, to me, is how instantly it can take the listener to that time and place where they were just starting to fall in love. There’s nothing like that feeling of seeing all of those little quirks, the jokes that they always tell, the music that they like, the stories that you’ve heard a million times that never seem to get old. I think this song encapsulates that moment perfectly. The first time I heard the song after my friend Gino, the producer on the track, sent it back to me, I remember it kinda feeling like home. That’s what I want anybody listening to the song to feel like.
What keeps you motivated to write and create new music?
I think it really depends for me. I think when I was younger, I drew my inspiration from a place of hopeful optimism. I would write about things that I was hoping I would get the chance to experience. I think there’s a sort of innocence that you can’t quite replicate that comes from that place of inexperience. Now, when I write, I think I write from a much more reflective place and I’m motivated by all of the great and the not-so-great things that I’ve been through. I think experiencing love and experiencing heartbreak and experiencing wanderlust and the comfort of feeling at home can all get wrapped up together and be used to tell an incredible story. That’s where “Only One” came from: the feeling of knowing what you want and knowing the things that you don’t want and falling in love with just the right person. That’s my inspiration.
Anything you want listeners to know about the new single when they listen to it?
I think that the main takeaway that I want the listeners to have is that they should never settle for less than they deserve. I think there are plenty of people who feel that they need to rush to find the perfect person for them and I couldn’t disagree more strongly. I think that it takes time to find what you do want and what you don’t want in a relationship. It’s easy to say that you’ve found somebody, but it’s harder to say you know that you found the right person. I think that’s a lesson that can really extend to every part of your life: if you wait and you’re patient and you focus on yourself and what you want, then the rest will come when it’s the right time.
How would you define success?
I think that I would define success as the ability to make a difference in people’s lives with my music. I gauge my success by the times that people have told me that they’ve listened to my music when they’re having a bad day and it made them feel a little less hopeless. My message has always been the same: I want people to know that, no matter how hopeless the situation may feel, we’re all in this together and we’re all gonna be okay in the end. If I could make that change in a person’s life through my music, then I would consider that a success.
If you could open for any act who would it be?
If I could open for any act, I think that I would love to open for Jon Bellion. I think Jon Bellion is one of the most innovative artists that I’ve seen in the past few years. Aside from the fact that I’m a huge fan and we’re pretty much from the same place on Long Island, I think we have a really similar style. I’d love to see how people who are fans of Jon Bellion would respond to my message and my music.
