The calm, soothing riffs of the guitar in “Wanderer” is more than enough to take listeners to a whole other world.
Mogli, the artist name for world-traveler and Alternative folk singer Selima Taibi, makes us feel a sense of desire to leave our comfortable lives for the scary unknown with the chorus “Oh the wind in my hair/ It sings my song/ To be a wanderer and to go home.”
We can feel the sadness in her voice as she thinks of having to return from a trip when she would rather be on the road watching sunsets rise behind the breath-takingly large mountains. The lyrics don’t take away from the well executed track that makes for an enjoyable listening experience while driving back from a great adventure.
This single was included in her partner Felix Starck’s documentary Expedition Happiness. The couple turned a typical yellow school bus into an RV then used to travel with their dog Rudi through Canada, Alaska to Mexico and the U.S. A surprise much-needed surgery for Rudi and complications getting into the U.S. ended their trip early, leaving them with the only option of flying back to Germany close to the end of their entire journey.
Expedition Happiness is now available on most streaming platforms!
